Any thoughts

I would give it a miss but I am a Rover purest like that.

Check the mod plate and then check that the engine numbers match the
rego. Call your prospective insurance company to ask about how much it will cost with the mods to insure.

But think about working on it down the track, it will be harder to know exactly what is going on with a conversion that you didn;t do yourself. But hey there are heaps of rangies and landies around
with different engines so it is up to you.

Yeah, I was atraccted to the older engines purely because of the lack of computers inloved. I'm used to dealing with diesels but from what I've heard the rover 3.5 is easy as to work on. Realatively speaking

You are spot on mate when you have a problem and the thing has a stock engine it is really easy just to work throught all the possible problems and solutions, the dual fuel setup would be interesting and pretty reliable on it and having and efi setup would be nice but I guess the thing is even someone like me can fix a range rover 3.5 but I would be buggered if anything went wrong with mine and it had a commodore engine in it, I would have to pay someone to fix it .... something I don;t really like doing unless I have to

There's nothing like a Rover V8, although not overly poweful, they have plenty of grunt for there size.

As RaginRover mentioned, there easy to work on and fault diagnose, cheap to rebulld if you know the tright scourse for bits and the twin carbie set-up is second to none off-road.

That Rangie with the 3.8 Holden V6 has been for sale for months, makes you think why he's selling it??

A lot of mucking around when a brand new 3.9 short motor can be had for around $3.5k and bolts straight in.

No rego/ safety cert and she told me you'd need a new windscreen but wouldn't say why :?

I have a 5lt EFI out of a vs commodore with a turbo 700 and I couldnt fault it, parts are cheap and you can get them just about any where, and the power difference is great.

I couldnt fault it.
