does anyone know of any failures in the fiber camshaft gears. I know that red holden motors have em and they are prone to failure around 60000km I just dont want to be ringing the RAC from halfway up a dirty great big hill

I have over 300,000 on my 3F engine in a 1985 FJ62 Wagon. Never any problem with the camshaft gears.

Mine has 200000 and the old man's has 300000 and havent had any troubles but didnt realise they werent steel untill I replaced the timing cover gasket and found the fiber gears. they were trouble in holdens but the japs may have got it right
