Have you got any photos of your rock sliders? I plan to manufacture my own and would like some pics as a guide.

Hi there.

I have some sill tanks ( not yet fitted ) but unsure of brand . They are 270mm from mounting bracket to out side.

I have sill mounted rock sliders ( my own design ) ( ripped off the nett ) from the mounting bolts to the chassis is 270mm BUT I could cut off at least 25mm of excess thread . So plenty of room .

Not sure if that helps because I don't know what brand my tanks are.

Cheers

i am buying the ones that are listed on ebay atm ther a basic design an the guy has worked hard to make em as well as he has.

as for your sill tanks most are around same size if they are made for the rover so that does actully help. just need to make sure the lra ones are the same

http://www.lrautomotive.com.au/40.html

i am hoping if they cover the sills i will do a 2.5" body lift an they can slide in between the sill an the tanks hopefully

Why, the ute already has a set on it

I don't want them, I make my own, just wanted to know ho they mounted, so i could tell you they ain't gonna fit with the tanks :D

Need to cut little notches out where the tanks bolt to the sills, and your better of getting tanks made so they suit the body lift anyway

here's a pic of my sliders that I made recently. Made from 75 x 50 x 3 RHS welded to a 5mm plate which is held by 6 bolts through the sill. Crush tubes have been welded into the sill. The bolts going through the sill are 10mm HT (grd 8) with nylocs. Any excess thread on the bolts has been trimmed so the only thing sticking out the inside of the sill is a flat washer and a nyloc nut.

I have a '96 disco (virtually identical to a classic Rangie underneath) with the LRA 2 1/2" body lift. I fitted a set of sill tanks from a 4dr Rangie. The tanks had to be modified to accomodate some extra floor bracing on the disco.
I changed the tank mounting brackets to sit it as high as I could aaginst the floor. So now when you look at the side of the car you can't see the tanks. The lowest point of the tank is level with the bottom of the chassis rail.

There is still 10 - 15mm clearance between the tanks and the original sill. So I expect there would be no problem fitting sliders. I plan to make a set in the near future.
