Factory Diff Lock

Post by santaz351 »

hi all
Just picked up LWB GQ and i'm very happy with it. It has a factory rear diff lock but dosn't seem to be working. When i flick the switch on, the light dosn't light up on the dash even after a few minutes waiting. Does anyone know what the problem could be?

Cheers

More than likely to be solenoids.
Also, might simply be a hose fallen off the solenoid, or elswhere

Quite often it wont engage when you turn the switch on.
try to turn to either left or right half a steering wheel rotation
the splines need to line up!
Failing that, as said check the hoses etc!

The car has to move for it to engage, take it easy with it they wear out the edges of the teeth pretty quick, leave it engaged for as long as possible, don't turn it on/off all day,put it in and leave it in till your back near the tar...

i also have one and they can be a b!tch to engage and/or disengage. mine engages fine, its disengaging that is a pain in the.....there's some different solenoid that makes the engagement factor much better, do a search on here.

I've tried switching it on and moving the car and all the other remidies suggested but still dosn't work. I'm moving more towards changing the solenoid. Is there a way to test the solenoid?

Other than swapping the hoses between the solenoids over, I'm not sure.
You can usually hear the solenoids working, mayb get someone to listen while you switch on/off?
You can also try to check the wiring is ok with a multi meter to make sure there is power.

If a new solenoid is required check here for a replacement:

By pass the solinoid and hook the line the pulls the locker in straight to the vacume line before the solinoid.
Go for a quick spin. Be careful tho and dont go hooking it round round abouts cos if it come in at the right time you may have to get a mate to pull the seat from your ass

if the locker comes in you either have a crook solinoid or wireing
