Jap import 60 series cable lockers

Post by turbo4t »

Just bought an imported 60 with factory cable lockers. It has full floater rear and 4.11 ratio's thank goodness. I heard they ran different axles to the standard, does anyone know if that's true? Any other major componant differences ie. crown and pinion etc? Need to get me rear rebuilt and never seen a cable locker before. Cheers.

The axles are different, well one on the front and one on the rear is - they need to be a long spline axle so the locking mechanism can slide back and forth. You wont need to replace them though if you are just doing a rebuild - the internal bearings are easy to get koyo's - or justget them from toyota.

I just installed a set of cable lockers in an HZJ73, replaced the entire high pinion front end with an older style 9.5 inch - big job - but tough truck now!

Yeah thanks for that. I am not looking to replace them but just wondering about interchangeability etc. for parts.
