TD42 Turbo Oil feed
TD42 Turbo Oil feed
Pulled the 1/8BSPT plug out of the side of the block, the one above/within the engine mount bracket.
I went to screw the oil line fitting adapter into it but it only went in a couple of turns before it became toight.
I put a 1/8BSPT tap into it to cut a bit more thread into it but only went a couple of turns further.
Should I keep tapping it further to get a few more threads in there for the fitting?
cheers

Hey pal,
I was having similar problems to what you were having with my oil fittings when I bought a turbo glide kit and managed to loose the fitting that screws into the side of the block
I emailed the turbo glide guy and he said...
"
Hello Jeremy,
for oil supply only 1/8 bsp x 1/4 flare into engine block at engine mount.
Rgds,
John"
Maybe the 1/4 flare thing is important ? I just handed that info to the guys at pirtek and said I need this..

I think the "...1/4 flare" part refers to the fitting/thread on the opposite end of the 1/8BSPT thread, may be wrong though.
The fitting I have is 1/8BSPT but 12mm Straight flare or something like that.

did you visually line the threads up from the gromet and the new oil feed line as i know there a different thread that is very close but has a slightly different pitch that will only let you get a few turns till it goes tight it sounds like you have the wrong thread
mine went in easily , the only hard part was to get a spanner in there to tighten it

I had to tap the fitting on my dump pipe with 1/8BSPT coz thats what the stainless fitting on the thermocouple has, this very same fitting screws into that no probs at all.
got it in now any hoo....all good so far.

The plug that came out of the block also screwed into the same 1/8BSPT thread that I had tapped on my dump pipe.
but had heard that M10x1 Tapered is a close but not perfect match for 1/8BSPT
Anyone know what thread the coolant drain at the rear of the block is? I was told 1/4BSPT but after finding out the hard way with a puddle of coolant on the shed floor, its not.
is there a 3/8BSPT or 5/16BSPT thread? Its the same as the 5/8 barbed fitting that screws into the thermostat housing for the heater hose, whatever that is.
cheers
