I got a bum steer!!! Need tyre advice

Post by ca18escort »

Ok Guys,
I was all lined up to get a set of 754 buckshots in a 32 x 11.5 and then I find out that they don't make them apparently. I asked about the 753 which is pretty good and I can't get them either as there are non in the country. What I want to know is what are some other suggestions. I have the option of BFG, MTR, Procomp MT, Kelly AT. Also where is a good place to go for 4WD tyres in T'ville??

Cheers
Paul

I have run 36-12.50 SX's for the last few years on my daily driver. But then again if you guys are having to pay big cash for them I understand. I spend $1000 a year on tires cause I have two Jeeps that run the street & trails here in Alaska. I like the Simex tires! One set in the state as far as I know of.

A cheap option might be the new Silverstone MT-117 Sport.. I got to test out a set of the new aus standards approved ones over the weekend and they were pretty good.. I think they are selling them for around $259 for a 33"..

I went down and spoke to Trevor at TK's yesterday afternoon and he was trying to sell me on ProComp MT but at $300 a corner compared to $200 for the Maxxis. The MTR's were around the $292 mark. Buggered if I know. I will give Brett a call about the maxxis. I really wanted a new set of treads for the night run tonight though.

I ended up calling Rolly down the Gold Coast and he had some 754's in stock so I am getting the YHI dealer up here to grab them for me. They are $200 a corner so it will be interesting to see what happens. I really need them thought because last night all that happened when I went out was a lot of slipping and sliding.

I highly recommend the silverstone sport MT117. (i was lucky enough to snaffle one of the first sets) Good option if you are looking for somthing 1/2 way between a MT and a swamper... Cheap too...
