Snake racing low profile cross member ln106 hilux

Post by troylux »

Hey guys

Has any one fitted a Snake racing low profile cross member to their Hilux.

2.8d

i am having a few problems trying to get it to fit properly.

i can't get the bash plate to bolt up as it sits hard on the gear box.
and with out that on it looks like the gear box mount is sitting funny and there is a lot more vibrations than before.

i will get some pix of what i mean tonight.

Thanks

Troy

I had the same problem with my snake one when they were first release. I could not bolt the bash plate on at all. I made a 10mm spacer to fit between the crossmember and the mount to space it up from the crossmember. This allowed me to fit the bash plate and fixed the vibraiton which was the transmission vibrating on the crossmember.

Thanks bubs
but did u make the spacer ontop of the cross member for the gearbox mount to sit on.
so inbetween the bottom of the gear box mount and the top of the cross member.

if so what did u do about the hole for that big round bolt or does that not locate in anything anymore.

thanks

Thats incase the rubber in the mount splits it'll stop the box from moving around a heap i'd say you'll get away with it and by any chance is the gbox mount stuffed :?:

The gear box mount is alright

none of the rubber looks torn etc.

i got a second hand mount off willy hilux because i brought a brand new one from repco and i was sus on it, (don't buy hilux gear box mounts from repco, no good.)

yeah so i don't know what the go is with this cross member.
i brought it off here so i am not sure how old it is.

thanks

Repeat this, they dont fit, i had to grind the bottom of the transfer to get one to fit on my lux.

Funnily enough you will find that the cross member you bought off here came from the guy who bought it off Bubs.

in the pic above of the crossmember I make, you can see a small rectangular piece the same profile as the mount. I put one of these between the crossmember and the mount.
