diesel tuning

Post by bad_religion_au »

i think my H is running a little lean. it's had a bit done to it lately, with the fuel governing diaphram being replaced and the head coming off, being shaved and the valves redone, how do you increase fuel in the air fuel mixture. feels underpowered (moreso than before) and does not smoke at all...

tuning

Hey dude. I would suggest you take it to a diesel mechanic or tuner as injection pumps can be a pain in the rear to set up. You can get some adjustment out of the mixture screw, normally on top of the pump, which is generally safety wired up to prevent tampering. Get it running and turn the screw one way or the other and you should hear the idle get smooth or really lumpy. Take care not to lean or richen or it too much as you may do damage to the head. Been there, done that. Just my 2 cents worth. Hope it helps.....

Um I agree - get onto a dyno somehwere....

Actually - I ran a H in my old 47....

Idea is to open pump up gradually so when you flick thottle at idle it doesn't choke... also so there is just a hint of black when you give it a quick open up from idle... Better leave it to the pro's. I share my house with a CAT trained diesle mechanic.... :D :D :D :D
