Alternator volt output

Post by dwaynes »

Guys what is the normal output for a 100amp alternator?

Mate has just brought a 100amp unit for his GQ and i reckon the output is too high at between 14.8 and 15.4 volts.

mine maxs out at 14.45v, give or take a few .01's (have a good digital meter on the dash). 14.8v and above would be doing damage to the battery. oh, and this would be a problem of the regulator as its job is to set the output voltage (may be inside alternator or a external one)
