60 series diff type for US import

Post by CanberraMav »

Im going to look into importing some ring and pinion gears from the US and although i know the 60 series have the 4.1 gears i cant seem to find this on US sites as they call things for example a 81/2 inch 10 bolt diff etc.

What do i need to tell the US guys so i recieve the right parts?

Thanks

Any one got some 5.29's going cheap?

CanberraMav,

PM me the details of what you are looking for. Gear ratio, year and make any info you think they will need.

Do a search on Ebay on the US site. There is a seller who ships to Aus on there.
AKA Mark.

cruiser ring and pinions are the same in the US. they got 3.7:1 in the 60, and 4.11 in the 62's but the bolt pattern etc are the same as ours.

only differences are that their carriers are machined out to take the C clip to hold the semi floating axles in, where ours don't have the machining to hold the c clips (as we got full floating axles).

you can use the semi floater diffs in a full floater application, but not vice versa, due to needing the c clip recess.

apart from that, the diffs are the same.

yep. the 8 1/2 inch 10 bolt i think is hilux stuff.

the front 60 series diff in the US is exactly the same as the front and rears we use out here (apart from the 3.7:1 ratio). no machining on the housing for C clips, as the front is full floating.

I have a 88 FJ62 which "needs" (I want) a front locker, couple of questions so I know what to order, are the diffs in a 62 series cruiser 4.11 or 4.1:1, how many splines (is it relevent). Anything else that I need to know.
Thanks.
