1991 Montero RS-how to switch to larger tires?
I am just about to start prepping mine for the summer in Southern CA-dirt, dust and lots of rocks...any advise is welcomed, particularly how to switch to larger tires, do a minor lift and remain financially independent, if anything needs to be done to get he car running properly if I feel like going up on the Big Bear to ski in July, then come down and 2 hours later incounter some major heat and dust...I hope you guys get the idea! I am new to this forum, I hang out at 4x4wire.com usually...
OK is yours a Gen 1 or 2 ?
If it's a Gen 1 you can run 32x11.5x15" on 15x8" rims with no lift or 33x12.5x15" with a 2" suspension lift providing you use the correct offset rims.
The torsion bars can be wound up to get 2" of front lift and by cutting the upper bumpstops down (x4) you will still have some downward wheel travel.
I'm guessing yours is a coil spring rear so 2-2.5" lift springs are the go I think Valley Springs is the place in the US. Their original springs were progressive rate and were found to collapse quickly but I think they have released a new linear rate spring. The US boys wreckon their customer service isn't the best though. You will have to match the shocks to the taller springs to make the most of available wheel travel.

Kinda. Its made by the company that made the mitsu air locker, similar technology.
Fuji Tujitsu something or other, I forget. Mitsubishi may own that company, but they dont operate under mitsu.
Definetly not that factory axles we have though.
