A mate has the gearbox for sale, and as my G52 is stuffed i was wondering if it is the same as the R151f box? so i could do the conversion...

did not really explain the R151, R151F series.

I think the 3 litre diesel came out with the R151, but not too sure.
Also not sure if putting this box in is much of a up grade...

Any one have any ideas...

Cheers brad

The 5L 3 litre engine has the G52
The 1KZ turbo 3 liter has the R15# gearbox

The G and R type boxes are physically different and you can't swap unless you also swap the correct bell housing as they have different bolt patterns. Not sure about driveshaft lengths or box cross member mount either!

you can bolt a 1KZ-TE to a G52... if you dont like the G52... but i dont think you can go the other way.

The R151 is only JUST suitable for the hilux turbo diesel- its too weak for the 1HZ cruisers (79 and 105's) and the Intercooled Prado.

Guy who rebuilt ours had 5 in there being strenghtened like ours was- 4 from WMC and one private.

I'll be fitting a R151 into my hilux when i drop in the 1KZ-TE motor, as my 340,000km old G52 wont last too much longer with a chipped intercooled 3.0TD motor under the bonnet!
