Hi chaps.

Has anyone used the jaycar battery charger regulator that comes in kit form ??

https://secure4.vivid-design.com.au/jay ... =&SUBCATID

I have a 4a continous, 8a rms charger. its an arlec ps 588 charger.

Im not sure if the 8a peak could damage the board.

cheers

Bought one, built it, don't use it. Having read the description of how it works, and made some measurements with it operating, I don't trust it.

I use the el-cheapo 4A Arlec charger for "fast" charging (as fast as a 4A Arlec can charge  ) and swap to a regulated 13.8V supply ($99 from Jaycar) if I want to float charge.

Scott,
I too read the destructions, and saw the bit about setting it up before use.

What gave you trouble and lead you to not trust it??

are they crap parts in the kit, or does it not do what it's claimed to be able to do??

It's going back a few years now. :? From memory, when set up according to the instructions I thought the "regulated" voltage was still way too high.

Had one, ditched it. Buy a solid state 3 stage charger from super-sh*t for $70
