this is the centre bearing out of my cj7 front drive shaft problem is that it's not the original part and no one knows what car it came from so if anyone can identify where this bearing or what this bearing is off can you let me know
the bearing diametre is 30mm
the bolt hole centres are 95.5mm
the rubber diametre is 95/97mm(hard to tell as bent)
cheers scott
no not hilux already measured a hilux one the bearing is the same but the carrier bolt holes don't align with the housing an the cross member so far the closest has been a cortina which i might be able to modify to suit , the other one was a rodeo the bearing and bolt holes matched but the overall carriers diametre was to big to fit in the housing
cheers scott
been to local tailshaft bloke and went through the hardy spicer book and thats where we got the simalar sizes,
frp88 the shaft has a flange with a centre nut.
woz it's not a commodore thats the first car that i thought that had a centre bearing but the f100 i've done a search on them but the mounting pads are up near the centre on both sides if your pretty certain on a f100 do you know about what year as this might narrow my search a bit.
cheers scott

Late 70 early 80. Im not saying its defianatly it but it looks very similar. I know there are defianatly a few different bolt spacings. Can you not re-drill the mounting pad?
nottie the part was fitted in aus but the guy who done it imports alot of american stuff and used a bearing that was lying around and can't remember what it was from also it was for a conversion so isn't the genuine part
ruff i can't drill the pads as every one that i've found either has to big of pads that don't fit between the trannie and cossmember but perfect diametre or the other way round perfect pads but the carriers to big to fit i done a bit more of a search last night and a jag xj6 looks close but doesn't give me a size of the bearing diametre
all fixed now just used another bearing and modded to suit thanks for the help guys much apprciated
cheers scott
ps still going to try to find out where it's from cause curiosty killed the cat
rvh96 wrote:it is a commodore VB-VT 100% i have replaced hundreds of them. definitly not F truck they are 35mm id and have 160mm bolt centres
Scott take it from Ron he knows his shit. If he says its a Commodore one then thats what it is.
I thought more about it after i first said it wasnt a commodore one and then Remembered they bolt to another bracket before bolting to the floor but had forgotten to reply here again.
cheers guys got a picce of the vb/vt commodore but they don't come with the housing like all other bearings this is probably why we overlooked them cause i needed the housing as well,i ended up using a nissan300sx we'll see how ricer parts hold up eh
the commodore one was in there when i got it so it lasted well over a year but with the new bearing in it drives really smooth in 4h but haven't given it a proper workout yet i'll know after saturday.
if i was to use the centre bearing in a two piece i would use the hilux as it has the same o/d and about half the price same as the f100 use these as they are way cheaper i only had to use the 300zx for overall diametre to be able to fit between the gearbox and crossmember.
dont use hilux centre bearings ever they dont even work in a hilux. We convert more hilux shafts than anything else we normally convert to 1 piece but some times fit the amercian truck bearing(F100) to the shaft. Toyota centre bearings are only 30mm id in fact toyota use the same bearing and rubber kit (CB25BR) in nearly all their cars from corrolla to dyna truck and they are weak as piss. the amercian truck bearings come in 35mm id and 40mm id and are easy to fit as they have a flat mounting face.I prefer to use mitsubishi canter truck bearings though as they have grease seals and are a lot stronger in design and not much larger than the amercian type

had a look at the canter ones when looking through the book and i'd agree thay look alot stronger but i had to stick with the 30mm id and the hilux and rodeo were half the price but to big in rubber diametre.
also had a look at the toyota coaster they looked like they were alright but can't remember id size but yeah i had a thought about it and would totally agree not to use the hilux ones especially to go hardcore anyway
