could you put coil overs in the front of the feroza in the same place as the standard shock. so that you get the ride height without a rough ride

dont have an answer for the coil over ..sounds like a cool idea ...however there are a few things that improve the standard ride no end
Hilux rear springs give a 2" ride height but are softer (if you take out a couple of the springs) so i have a softer ride than factory 2" lift AND far more articulation I replaced the shocks in mine with modified VN Comadore ones that are a couple of inches longer than the Fez ones and nice and soft.
As for the front best thing you can do is ditch the swaybar .. It's unbeleivable how much that dam thing affects the ride (for the worse!) Since removing it and winding up the front bars 2" I have a slightly firmer ride in the nose (this offsets the lack of a swaybar on corners) WAY more articulation in the IRS and with a decent set of aftermarket shocks in the nose I have a softer than factory ride ..way more articualtion and all round better on and off road manners.
Since doing these mods the Feroza has lost that harsh pitching and bouncing on the open road and the nose dosnt become skippy when one wheel hits a pothole the IR$S now acts like IRS rather than transfering the bump through the whole front end.. dosnt feel like a lowered boyracer car with illegal cut springs anymore
Might be a cheaper and easier way to get a better ride than modifing the nose then getting certification etc.
Cheers Meece

if the feroza is the same as the us rocky then yes. but i think the us rocky is the feroza widetrack
i had the same idea for my rocky as a alternative for turning up the torsion bars

Your not going to change the fundamental limits of the Feroza by putting on coil overs as its not the springs that limit the travel / height its the control arms and chassis.
You could however increase the existing spring rate if you wanted too.
Things are also tight in the front arm area and the chassis is not really designed to feed spring loads into that area so IMO a fair amount of fabrication would be necessary.
However coils could be rising rate - something that isn't really possible with torsion bars.
For all the messing around , pneumatic bump stops would probably be just as good and a hell of a lot simpler.

only thing i see coilovers helping with is raising the front 1-2 inch without making is super stiff to the pint og loosing front wheel travel.

but if you raise the front you do loose droop travel. Overall nothing changes its just you have more bump and less droop.
Its the lack of droop that really hurts standard Feroza's so it looks cool but hurts
Doesnt matter how you add the extra springiness, raising means pushing the control arms down and there goes the droop travel.
Assuming no one has "redesigned" the front suspension

I raised mine 2" for chassis clearance .. by shaving the bump stops i regained prob an 1" back of downward droop and still have a safe angle for the CV's.
Most of 4wd'ing I do in NZ requires ground clearance rather than articulation (up the back of the farm in the muddy paddocks and on the beach so a lack of downward travel and a very marginal higher COG isnt too much of a concern (Dropping 350Kg out of the cabin in weight has lowered the COG anyway I would think)
the inch i loose on the front is partly made up with the 3 or 4 inches more articulation that the rear can do now with the modified hilux/commadore/homemade shakels gear over the standard springs/shocks/shakels ..
I think with most things ... modify ya 4by to the style or useage you want to use it for. If I wanted a 4x4 with massive flex I would just go out and buy a Rangie *shudder*

.. The small Feroza suits my needs (and my midlife crisis the fact that it's a converable) for the moment
