Auto locker into a 75 series Troopy

Post by TheOtherLeft »

I am comtemplating installing an auto locker into my troopy. It'll probably be a richmonr lockright, not one of the ez-locker thingos.

As the Troppy has one of Toyota's legendary LSDs in the rear will the centre need to come out? How much do I need to replace?

This question was spurred on by the previous post regarding putting a locker into a LSD Hilux.

Or maybe it'll be easier putting one on the front.

same thing basically as the hilux... You will neeed a open hemisphere to install the lockrite into and then reset the diff back up with new carrier bearings..

As i said before, buy another centre (open) and sell yours.

Or take the one out of the front and install the lockrite, put it in the rear and put the lsd if the front....

Just my opinion...

I don't think the front and rear centres are the same. I think (?) the front is a high centre diff so it may be different to the rear.

Maybe I'll just go with the front locker then. Unless I can find an open 4.11 centre in good condition and no too many $$$.

Correct ,the front is a high pinion after 1990. A lot of owners swear by the front locker.

I think to find an open 4,11 it would have to come from an older model 45 series or a JDM import, as all the aussie spec landcruisers seem to have LSD after 1980?,which is K085 on the firewall plate. The open diff is K082

My 1985 FJ 75 is stamped KO82. So this will be a good thing when I go to fit an auto locker right?

How rough would the 4WD Systems Lokka be in the front?

I have heard they are quite noticeable when it dis/engages but in the front it would be OK wouldn't it?

Although I might just look at the US sites for a Richmond etc.
