Hi all you Nissan Gods...

It seems I have to sully my hands working on a nissan... :finger:

Some mates of mine have just bought a '90 Terrano (import?) with a TD27 and auto - to tag along on the Brisbane-Perth trip we will be doing.

If anyone can help with:
- filter part numbers
- manuals (pdf one anywhere?)
- oil weights?

- anything special to check???

It would all be greatly appreciated.

The vehicle is in pretty good nick and the engine seems well built (I like the fact that it has GEARS and not a belt!!!). God this thing is low to the ground though...

Woeful to drive but a bloody reliable engine and car there. Looked into them but couldn't stand how they drove and also the issue of being an import scared me off.

Engine uses 10w40 (or a 50 weight). Castrol RX Super is the oil most people seemed to use.

Filters, don't count on it being the same as the D21 Navara non turbo TD27 filter. Thats as much as I remember about that sorry.

Dont forget to service the auto and power steering fluid. transfer case in the pre 94 D21 manuals recommends the use of auto transmission fluid. Not sure what the deal is there. Rear diff is LSD - use a suitable LSD oil. Probably worth doing the front diff as well - might never have been done since new.

Goodluck with it and on your trip.

Did own a 88 2door and loved mine !!!... wasn't much left that was standard though ..

don't get scared being an import as the only difference to any australia pathy is the turbo...

Repco , Autobarn etc list all parts you need so just make a call..

If it drives like sh#t then it will need suspension work as do most of the other D21 pathy's or nav's.. Idler . tie rods, ball joint etc etc.

The only other thing to watch out for is rust under the back seat..

Anyone have any info on what model auto trans these things are fitted with. Is there a filter that needs to be replaced? Any adjustments that can be made?

Be very careful with the autos as they are getting to the age now where a lot are starting to slip leak etc and a reco one will cost in excess of 2k ... A mate just had a different valve body fitted so it shifts harder but apart from that all good... Mine was a manual and also beware of this gear box as 5th gear is very weak ..
