pajero idling to high sometimes

Post by short stuff »

i have just bought a 91 glx pajero 3l v6 and i was driving it home and stop at some lights and noticed that the revs were high then i stop again and the idle will be fine. The only thing i can put it down to is the cables cause it has cruise control so the cable goes through there then to the throttle body any ideas other then that

Its more likely going to be your IAC (idle control) motor.

ok for some reson its idleling high until you roll forward and it hunts from 1600 to 2000 and when you stop it goes back up could this be something to do with the front diff lock its a gls so it has all the mod cons

I would still put my money on it being a faulty IAC motor. The 3ltr ones are the same... Read this thread.

normaly the air flow meter puts a check light on, I'd clear the codes and recheck them before racing out and spending, double check the plug on it, Mitsubishis air flow meters are usualy very reliable. Check for a cracked air induction hose to the throttle body and check the P.C.V hose is still on have seen vehicles backfire and pop the hose off the valve.
