ct26 fitment

Post by rockcrawler31 »

Ok, so i have aquired a ct26 for my 1hz, i have a few questions regarding the fitment of all the plumbing.

firstly the water cooling stuff. The turbo has a pair of water lines going into one side, does it matter which way the water circulates through these? I plan on taking water from the heater pipe on the other side, but need to know the simplest return point. Should i tap a hole into the alloy thermostat housing and put a fitting there or should i cut the steel heater return line and put in a tee piece and some rubber hose.

with the oil lines, when the oil come from the tee piece into the oil pressure sensor, can that line be just rubber hose and circlips? will that take the pressure?

when the oil return line goes to the sump, is there any other way to fit the pipe to the sump that doesn't involve brazing/welding (i can't do that). if i drop the sump and drill a hole is there a fitting that i can bolt together from either side?

How should i prime the oil in the turbo before starting?

any idea where i can get a dump pipe from? the wreckers have been less than helpful.

water can run any direction, come from one heater hose and return to the other wrks fine. rubber is fine for the oil and use hose clamps. return it is best bet to just get the sump done properly. as for priming the turbo, itll do it as soon as you turn the engine on, a film will sit there after the first turn and will stay there till it is rebuilt where the builder should put a very light layer of lube on anyway. the only time you might want to think about priming the turbo is first fire and even then just start without glow so it turns over and get the oil pressure up that will be plenty. but isnt needed.
turbos are nice but i'd rather be blown

RC31, You probably know this already, but make sure the oil return is above full oil level, if you return it to the sump, and as Chunder says, get it done properly, tho I'm not a big fan of brazing. A question for you now, is the turbo a Chinese copy or the real deal? and how much $$.

it's from a second hand jab parts importer. the turbo is from a 7mgte, so i'm guessing not a chinese copy.

400 bucks for turbo, and 165 for manifold from sms diesel in sydney.

turbo was supposed to have a dump pipe but ended up coming without.
