Rockwells run them on the pinion of the diff and they seem to work very well, what if they were mounted on the front and rear of the transfer case instead? May be a way of saveing some weight on a buggy (still need small rears for cutting) or make a comp only mog conversion lighter and easier. The only issue i can think of is if you break a tailshaft, you loose 1/2 your brakes.... but you still have half.
Any thoughts?
* i'm talking about somthing that will never be driven on any type public road.

pinion brakes?

*I'm not sure about this so check the rules for the series you want to enter* I reckon I remember reading somewhere that wheel brakes are required, and it will be for exactly the reason you suggest, but on the face of it, your idea is a good one, Ljxtreem and I have discussed this before.
However, pinion brakes only work with spools or detroit lockers. If you use a selectable locker for cutting, the pinion brake won't work properly - the wheel with the least traction/off the ground will start to turn backwards and the wheel with the traction will just freewheel, so the brake will be ineffective/unpredictable.
The idea is a good one with spools/detroits though (subject to rules)- brakes tucked up into the chassis, excellent for weight saving too - one two small discs and calipers, short lines etc.
