Hilux injector pump issues

Post by Richride »

I have a 1990 Hilux Duelcab, I have just put in a semi rebuilt 3L non turbo as the original engine was siezed (I bought the lux this way)
The new engine I picked up was complete and the fuel pump was already in place.
Now going, this motor is churning through the fuel like a 22r! I have used about half a tank in 150ks, not good!!!!!
The motor idles well, no / very smoke at idle, but when you drive it there is a smoke screen following me!
My guess is the pump is set up for a turbo???

Now if I just turn down the mixture screw, will this fix it? Does anyone have a good photo of what the misture screw looks like? How easy is it???

If anything a turbo on a stock pump should make less smoke than one that is set up for it i'd honestly look at doing or getting injectors done first before i went staight for playing with the pump. if a injector is stuffed it'll dribble not spary ending up not burning correct and the black smoke is unburt fuel in a nut shell and injectors are cheaper than gettin a pump looked at
plenty of parts on the bench
