removing engine bay items and a couple other qs.

Post by Wambat »

hey guys hows it going?

im just wondering, how amny of the things in the engine bay. mainly the things attached to the inner gaurds, can be removed into the tray of a ute??

ie im asuming that, wiper water bottles bottles and battery arent to much of a problem, obviously airbox would have to stay or be throught out a new way.

as i dont own the 4wd(GQ) that i want to use at the moment, i dont know exactly what is situated on the gaurds, im more just thinking things out.

other than that, does any one know if legaly you can move your radiator to the tray as well? runing stainless pipe to it?? or would it be to hard to stop the pipe from getting damaged??

my thoughts that lead me to think of this, is im planing on getting a gq in the future, and i want to run at least 35/36" ETs, but i dont want to lift it much, saying a max of 3 inchs, and thats an absolute max if i must, and im 100% not running a body lift.

but i will grind out as much as possiable, and i am thinking about wideneing the inner gaurds, leveing them there jsut fabing up some new ones.

i plan on using the gq for week end runs to toolangi, and dissa, wombat and marrysville state forrests, and nothing else really,

if any one can give me some direction that would be awesome

also as secondary question, how much could i pick up a gq for, if i really didnt care what condition it was in, aslong as its not rolled, as it would be getting cut down inta a ute.

i was thinking something like, one of the 3 ltr petrol ones, with a busted motor or gearbox or diffs or something, as ( i dont think id ever find one now but id be trying to run the td4.2 i think( the 4.2 turbo diesel im not up on the numbers and letters of them yet( i did notice that ones tb and ones td)

also the 4ltr petrol, does it use the same gearbox and bellhousing and diff ratios as the diesel???

thanks a bunch guys.

same gearbox diferent bell housing most of the time same diff ratios 4.1;1 but alot of petrol mavs had 3.9 smaller diesels had 4.6's the occasional 4.3's come up. woulndt bother moving any other than the stuff you listed to the tray if your making new guard linings anyway just remount to new linings. if only a weekender just wack radiator on the back anyway, whats the wors that could happen???

i probably will. but i like to try and keep it as legal as possiable, im trying to aime that the only thing i can get pulled up on would be tyres. and even still if i found out that if i upgrade the breaks, and stuff liek that and could get them legalised, i would....
