40/45 series transfer

Post by nottie »

Ok i have just got my hands on a Built C4 auto with a marks kit and i gather a 40 series transfer or a 45 i am unsure as i wouldnt have a clue about yota stuff like that. I was told it came from 45 and also have seen the same case in a i think it was a 3 speed 40 series. It had a 6 petrol in it and was a very early 2 piece bonnet model. Anyways are these case any good? Is there and tricks you can do to them as in 2 stick them? Any after market gears available?
Oh it is an alloy case aswell. I wouldnt have thought an early case like that would have been alloy but hay ya never know.\

it sounds like an early modle 40. No gears out there for them. I have a 60's t-case ya can buy and it'll bolt straight to it (same pattern) and marks sell 43% gear sets for them or maybe ya can source a set of the 86% reduction gears for it.

let me know.

The 60 has a different transfer that deoes not suffer the same failures as the early 40 series box had. It doesnt need to be brased like the 40 case.
