got a 1996 2.8 diesel drives in 5th gear fine until you lift your foot then it jumps into nuetrel any one had a similar problem

Not lux but 5 speed celica box in a Hq holden it's worn internals can't recall what at the moment but we could hold 5th in it just needed to drive with one foot on the gear stick to hold it.
It would jump under any load power of decelration :D dodgey as but worked.

torx 40 screw on the box housing level with the 5th gear selector shaft.. under this is a spring and indent ball, replace both, they are cheap..
also check the rubbers under the gear sticks, if u have done body lift ect then they may be putting extra pressure on the stick.

i would nearly bet that it is the seat under your gear stick when it wears the box doesnt go into gear properly so it cn jump out next time you drive it when you put it into 5th lift the stick up as you do it then see if it jumps out if not that is your problem

happens all the time easy fix

Yeah good point don't think there all that expensixe we did think about this with the hq one but just opted for antoher box as the one that jumped was a bit noisy
