Pod filters and extractors

Pod filters and extractors
How much difference in power does a pod filter make, and the same for extractors on a Feroza?
Also what brands are available - so far I only know of the Unifilter pods and Genie extractors?

I've got both. Rampod airfilter and extractors. I put the rampod on first. Made a little difference (was noticable) and sounded a lot cooler from at least in the car. Use a unifilter cleanable filter with it.
Extractors then went in a few months later, make a hellofa difference, wouldn't have it any other way now, love them. Sound great, give me more grunt...all up I'd say I had 10-15% more power now.
I got everything from MRT in Sydney. www.mrtrally.com.au
Send them an email and ask them for the latest daihatsu brochure, the one on the site doesn't have everything. Tell Brett I said hi

yep yep and yep. mine runs rough in warm up then a lil bit afta warmed up. runs a bit rich too though is has given a bit more kms to a tank dependin on the right foot. and the extractors are fcukd. paid mrt the money then had to wait 3 months for them to give the parts. complained in person when i found extractors crackd, they told me not there problem so i told them to shove it up there ass. wont be going bak there ever again. assholes they are. be careful.
Excellent, I think I made the right decision !
Saw way too many bad comments about MRT to even consider bolting anything of theres on to my motor.
Got my beast booked into Exotic Exhaust at Sumner Park tomorrow morning for a set of extractors and a 2 inch system. Told them I was going to buy MRT's off the shelf but was concerned with cracking so they said they would definately add a flex joint and make sure the mounts to the gearbox aren't to tight. Pretty sure this is where the MRT's crack?
Entire system installed for $500, $150 cheaper and Im 100% sure the workmanship will be as good if not better. They did the exhaust and intercooler piping on my 180sx and it was dead sexy.
Anyone interested in a system should go see them, they are a pleasure to deal with !
Cheers

what extractors are you getting? Ive been quoted $400 for some Hurricanes which im most likely going to get.
EDIT: booked in for some hurricanes at liverpool exhaust on friday! $380 which is ok.
I was putting it off for a while but after some bush bashing in Lithgow on sunday i found out my headers are cracked...

Actually the MRT's are the only off the shelf extractors that include the flex join and gearbox mount standard. I think it's more a case of dodgy welding from what I've read- more than bad design.Rb25sil80 wrote:Told them I was going to buy MRT's off the shelf but was concerned with cracking so they said they would definately add a flex joint and make sure the mounts to the gearbox aren't to tight. Yeah I know the MRT's have flex joints and gearbox mounts but i'm pretty sure the mount to the gearbox is solid metal? This would definately have something to do with cracking around that area.
Exotic actually said when they do Extractors then don't put a mount to the gearbox, be interesting to see how it goes.
The extractors aren't an off the shelf brand, they are Exotic Exhaust custom 4-2-1 jobbies. These guys make tubular steampipe/stainless manifolds for race cars so im sure what ever they come up with is going to be great !
Will post some pics tomorrow once I get the car back.
Cheers

The gearbox mount should be there to take the strain off the studs on the head- otherwise sideways movement in the system will be putting a lot of leverage on directly on the exhaust manifold studs. The flex join should be after the gearbox mount.
That's how I had mine installed. IIRC the flex is actually after the cat due to space restrictions in front of it. The Hurricane extractors are very long.

I picked up a set of Hurricane extractors for $240 fitted, the head was being done at the same time, so it's quite hard to determine power increase, and fuel economy..
I was getting 300k's out of 47litres.
After doing the leads, disy and roter I'm hitting about 400K's out of 47L
WTF can't I fill my tank is a more important question... It never makes it to F.. (because it's farked most likely)
400 is with a small amount of highway use, and a majority of city driving.. So i'm certainly much happier with the economy now.. Although I would like to get 500.. but i'm guessing that would have to be ALL highway use...
