Guys I have just noticed a strange problem in that the paj appears to be dropping pressure according to the guage.
Never seemed to do it until yesterday. Essentially it sits on the normal 80-90 pounds at idle - upon driving the guage gradually drops itself down to -30 pounds and less.
The oil is fresh - replaced on the weekend - however I could only get Delo 400 from work which is 15-40W. Everything appeared fine until I looked across yesterday.
It has dropped down to pretty much zero with no oil pressure warning light and drives as if there is nothing wrong. It doesnt seem to be an oil pressure problem and Im thinking 75% its the guage...
The other 25% is the problem - do you think the guage is giving a true indication? Is 15-40W not suitable for these diesels? I dont really want to destroy the motor if its not the guage. I do find it strange it goes back up to the 80-90 pound range when you stop.
If your thinking its not the guage, oil is fine could the oil pump be on the way out and how much am I looking at for a new one. Its the only other thing I think it could be.

Oil Pressure Guage - or oil pressure problem 2.8 td
Moderator: -Scott-
It is a common problem, it will be one of two things broken/dodgy wire at the oil pressure sender unit or the oil sender unit itself. Aftermarket oil sender units are available but they are not as accurate as the genuine ones (but a lot cheaper)

Pajero GLX 2.8td 255/85/16 BFG muds 265/75/16 BFG AT's, articulator, 2.5inch lift, ball joint flip, rear sway bar disconnect and lots of mods.
Yeah I spent most of lunch time ready old threads related to the issue and watched it most of the way back from work . . .
Its more erratic than yesterday so I guess its the guage/sender unit. Yesterday it was very consistent in what it was doing which led me to think it may not be the guage - today it was all over the shop!
If it hadnt started just after doing an oil change I probably wouldnt have been soo concerned.
Cheers, Vaughan

yes we have had the same problem with the oil pressure guage on our last 3 pajs.
the wire seems to be very tempremental and doesn't like corregations...
the guage on my NL 2.8td died 2 weeks after we took delivery of it from mitsubishi and that was a bit over 8 years ago... i have been meaning to fix it for a while.
cheers and goodluck with it.
