I think the average car travels 20,000 kms per year isn't it?

If so, means this car has gone an extra 6,000 kms per year (or 8,500 kms if it was built Dec 97) compared to the average. Make your own decision about that, doesn't necessarily mean its bad.

If they are right and it has been serviced regularly it should be ok although as tojo_runner said, its no guarantee. Might be an idea to set aside some funds in case big motor work is required.

You have private sale in your favour so price is generally much more flexible than a yard. If you mention the kms thing they might be prepared to come down a bit.

But the price at the moment doesn't seem too far out of the ball park.
