Hilux steering and suspension

Post by muddylux »

Looking at giveing the old girl a freshen, and need your thoughts.
It,s a ln106 live axel lux dual cab diesel full bar work winch, turbo, style side, canopy, draws ect. The current set up has 2in raised ome springs that are only 2 years old and the fronts have gone w shaped and the ride is a little rougher now.
This is what I want to achive.
A little more flex
Able to run 33's [ currently 32's]
Same hight or 1in more.

This is what I'm looking at the moment.

New pitman arm [ mines stuffed]
new steer rod and tie rod ends [stuffed also]
33mm shorter drag link droped or straight
adjustable tourque rod
locate diff forward 33mm
rebuild/ reset springs 2 or 3 in higher
new bushes. [currently greasable]
rancho rs 5000 shocks.

I'd like to keep the cost as low as possible and am currently happy with the set up [ but worn out now] and would like to run 33's.

????
shocks are these worth the extra money and would you recomend another brand ?

Springs new or old. If new which brand [do not like front ome anymore as they are w out of the box but a reset would fix this for good]

It I reset the workshop would do the R&R if I buy new I would fit. which would be more cost productive ?

Anything I have not thought of ?

im running 3" suspension 2" body and 33's they clear fine but having said that my shocks bottom out before.

also running
adjustable droped drag link
adjustable torque rod
geasable shackles
tough dog foam cell shocks

havnt moved diff forwad but that would probably help with scrubbing if you do have any issues. you will probably have better luck with buying new springs rather then resetting but i havnt ever used reset springs.
If all else fails, use a bigger hammer

i can fit 33's fine with my 2inch cab and spring.. ya dont need all the fancy shiat ya just need to sit and think it all out. ranchos for sure, they are great ive got em all corners including dampner.

push ya diff forward if ya must but dot. wont like it at all.
id go highsteer if ya doin the diff forward and just do ruf rearsupfront and that will give ya the lift and diff position 50mm forward.

lift blokes to match in the rear and thats that..

my 2c
