Torque converter lockup
Anyone had experience modifying their torque converter to manual lockup? I have a 1997 80 series 1FZ-FE, A440F auto and I would like to know which wire, what colour, where it's located etc. I have a relay schematic ready to go I just need to know what wire to tap into. Anyone done this?
Cheers,
Alan.

Ring Rodney at wholesale automatics in Bayswater Vic, as he has a wiring loom and switch which makes all this work very easily, as well as temp sender fittings bolt in for auto temp gauge, and also does better convertors, with better lock up linings, better torque multiplier, and a great valve body set up to suit the cruiser auto.
Tell him Darren at ATS told you about the set up, when you call, great bloke to deal with.

I have an electronic version fitted to my auto 80 and to be honest I have rarely used it. Initially I lacked confidence in low low on steep descents so fitted the lock up. The problem with it is, if I let the revs drop too much on steep descents then the engine cuts out, and that is not very pleasant. I now have much more trust in low low
What do you mean by an electronic version?Oneputt wrote:I have an electronic version fitted to my auto 80 and to be honest I have rarely used it. I have Rodney's Switch which uses a relay that splices into the AUTO ECU - is that what you mean?
Mine wont stall the car though... almost - but it wont stall it.
