2nd alternator

Post by dig3283 »

has anyone had success mounting a second alt in a triton v6 or really any mitsubishi v6. the idea is to run all the higher amperage stuff off the 2nd battery and alt as to not lug down the standard one. if running 4 spotties and whinch and anything else car could more than likely stop. any help greatly appreciated

If you can physically fit it somewhere and run a belt over it then you shouldn't have any problems.

But... it is usually going to be a lot easier to just upgrade the alternator you've got. And if you've got room to mount a spare belt-driven item, then whack a second a/c compressor there instead and use it for air.
This is not legal advice.

Ive been down this road wit my v6 but was trying to fit a small aircon compressor. Going that my vehicle has a body lift i got one to mount between the battery and air con. running from the air con belt. Was a disaster story, when i turned on a/c got nothing but belt slip, think its all too hard. put mine back to standard
