to start with they r over priced.. but they drive nice and have plenty of power allthough dun feel much more than the older 6cyl.
was looking at one to replace my 80. but found they were just to small in the back. so i saved 20k and bought a turbo troopie.. well proven motor
same thing but bigger with a diferant engine and front end.
very happy with it.

3 in Beaudesert Exhaust straight through, no cat no muffler makes a huge difference to them . Opens them up nicely. they seem to loosen up at about 10 thou a bit too.

I've been involved with four different TDV8 79's, one is now getting close to 12 months old and has 50000 hard k's and the only problem has been fuel filters (can't blame the truck it was an exploration camp and every one had issues).
A Ceduna hire vehicle with 30000k's broke down seeming to be alternator issue but turned out to be damage to some wires that pass underneath the engine just above the steering arms. Once again not really toyotas fault unless you blame them for not designing it better so sticks don't rip out the wires. Talking to Ceduna hire which have a lot of then which all see hard work with exploration/mining they have been very good just need more "real" under body protection like every other new car these days.
My work ute is 1.5 months old with 15000 k's and only 2500k's on the bitumen. The only problem has been a sensor issue in bull dust that from time to time sends it into limp home mode. In fairness it was bull dust like I have never seen before and certainly hasn't had an problems under normal extreme condition
My personal vehicle is 7 months old with 5500k's but hasn't really been tested yet.
