Has anyone ever done anything to free up a stuck oil pressure relief valve short of removing the oil pump?
Ever since a cracked head that dumped water in the oil (and i suspect a previous owner who thought oil keeps goin and goin) the valves (tappets?) have been really loud (despite 2 clearance adjustments by mechaincs)
Sounds like a hand full of loose gravel thrashing around under the rocker cover.
Anyone got a oil pressure guage fitted, what is the pressure at idle and 2500(ish) rpm?
UPDATE:
Went and got a mechanical oil pressure gauge.
readings are
Idle cold 60psi
Idle hot 25psi
3000rpm hot 61psi
4000rpm hot 69psi
looks to be in spec I guess that answers my question, Cant be the relief valve. Back to suzuki for another valve adjustment.

If thats your rig its a G16b 16 valve the only decent way to set them the valves is hot and is made much easier using a genuine tool. oil pressure wont affect your valve noise, unexperianced mechanics will. Find a workshop that might know what there doing and get them adjusted properly.
