Vitara Fuel Gauge Issues

Post by =SKB= »

I have 92 JLX Vit that seems to be having issues with the fuel gauge readings. Gauge will only show as much as 3/4 full when the tank is filled up. It eventually comes down after the first 1/4 is used. I am thinking it's just the sender that needs replacing but if anyone has had similar issues with a solution found, post up.

hi bud you are spot on there. fuel (petrol) gives off a reidue that hardens to a point on the metal parts of the sender, this stuffs the contacts due to not getting either full extension or the contacts not connecting properly.

do not replace the sender for $89 bucks.... all you need to do is drop the tank, pull the sender, open the cover up and clean it with thinners the put it back together, it will work perfect i bet, very rarely does the actual instrument cluster fuel gauge stuff up.

cheers mark
