Rear disc conversion 60 series...

Has anyone done or know of anyone who has converted the rear drums to discs on a 60 series? I'm not a fan of the amount of adjusting that needs to be done after a good w'kend away in the mud holes etc... My mate has killed a set of shoes in less than 15000k's and mine are on there way also (changed about 8000k ago).

How does the handbrake setup work on the conversion?

What are the pro's and cons of the conversion?

Any feedback would be great!!!

I make up rear disc kits to suit cruisers that use hilux disc's and calipers and use the handbrake set up of a fj45 on the output shaft. This works great but can get expensive if you use new h/brake parts for the conversion. The brakes work and last well due to the calipers and disc's being from a toyota 4wd.

is there any reason you cant use landcruiser front rotors?

are hilux discs vented?

id like to know more about this too. as im building 60 series diffs.

Due to the rear hub flange being thinner than the front the disc sit closer to the wheel. With the vented disc's the disc is wider to the outside by approx 8mm so the caliper is wider to the outside by 8mm and the chance of interferance with the wheel centre is high. Some wheel types will clear but most hit the caliper. If you have 8mm + clearance on the front with vented disc's vented disc'c will fit on the rear.
