Prado cooler on TD lux.

Post by cody82 »

I have a intercooler off a 03 TD prado that shares the same motor as my 03 TD lux ( 1ke-te maby) and I was wondering what parts in total I would need to get it rigged up trying to keep it as factory as possible as in what the prado's rolled out with, cant understand why the hilux didnt have them from factory either... Also I am getting a snorkel fittel soon to, will these two things need to be changed to adapt to eachother, I dont know much at all about intercoolers so I dont know! Any advice would be great
Cheers.

i'm not sure on all the details.......... so afaik you need the intake pipes and the throttle cable as well. this is due to the TPS being in a different location due to the intercooler. hence different length throttle cables.

You might wind up needing the whole intake manifold too- I know theres a LOT of differences between the 1KZ-TE ouf of the surf im transplanting into the hilux and the 1KZ-TE in dads prado.

The prado one has its throttle body mounted square to the manifold- and the intercooler feeds vertically into it.

The surf has its throttle body mounted at about 45 deg to the manifold, and the solid cast alloy pipe to the turbo goes across the top of the motor.

As for your snorkie- Thats intake, and pre-filter, it wont affect anything to do with your intercooler.

chinese copy cooler =$100, $50 of piping and bends and away you go.

Have run them in a few cars and work well intake temps drop about as good as a expensive aftermarket or good factory cooler.
