2h is a great motor petrol and deisel boxes are different and wiring loom should be easy enough to come by but cranks are getting hard to find for the 2h in vic anyway if you blow it up in the future.
all dash etc will have to be changed to suit as well
might be better spending a little extra and going 1hz turbo or 12ht
just my 2c
Keep it shiny side up!
Now doing general fab work and painting
trays, trailers, engine swaps on request, some tube work, silo section sliders, rust repairs, ute chops etc

i've never seen a difference between the petrol and diesel gearboxes. bellhousings are different, but gearbox bolts straight up.

i don't think 2H's are fantastic. too many head drama's, too little power for the effort.

wiring is simple.

diffs are the same (so no drama's) gearing is the same, so it's a matter of getting the right engine mounts and bellhousing.

oh and a glow plug timer relay thingo.

what's his reasoning for going to diesel, because there is little benefit for diesel unless your doing outback touring.

I have put a 2F into an old 2H truck with not too much drama... although I did have the donor car to rape parts from.....

g'box as said before is the same... just bellhousing change will fix the bolt up to motor. I even put the heavy duty Safari 2H clutch onto the 2F with no probs, the size difference is minimal except the spring load of the pedal is ALOT harder. The engine mounts will need to be chopped and relcated to suit where the engine wants to sit, from memory I think the 2H sat about 1-2inches further rearwards than the 2F mounts. And the wiring harness I stripped and replaced the whole wiring harness and dash out of the old truck to make everything plug and play once it was all back in.

Once all sorted I started it up first go no probs.
When in doubt..... UTE-ERIZE it!!!
