Well failed a blue slip and was curios to know what the issue is.
Can pull the key out of the ignition whilst the car is running.

Can i just pull it apart and fix it or will i need a new barrel replacement?

Cant find an aftermarket company to use to replace the barrel and SUZUKI charged me $240 as the ignition barrel comes as a complete steering column kit! WTF?

Will a Vitara one fit? $79 del?

Yep, should be a key wear problem. If your key is that worn, you'll need to get the key cut from code, which is a bit exxy, but much less hassle than changing the barrel.

The barrels can be swapped off the column but they use shear head bolts so they can be a bitch to undo. If the key replcement doesn't work try a wrecker for a barrel and key.

I think its roughly $30-40 AU to get a new key..

No wreckers round here sell parts of Suzuki Sierra's however if i go soouth 3 hours.. maybe..

Id prefer a new barrel..

ANYONE actually got an aftermarket barrel and key(s)?

i had the same issue taking mine over... i got a new key cut and problem solved. youll notice on your key, if you face it so the bit you hold is on the right and the tip is pointing left, it tapers up, dips down, rises up again and levels out for about 4mm before dropping down again... in that 4mm level part, there should be a 1.5mm wide by 1mm high notch coming up - thats the bit the barrel grabs... so you could get a cheapy key cut and ask the guy to carefully accentuate that notch.

the key i got done is a match to a ford of some description (same shape as zuk key) and works great... $8 well spent =)

Yup - my original key can be removed while the ignition's running. Bunnings keys I got cut for the missus won't pull out. Do have to wriggle them a bit in the door locks though - driver's door is okay cos the barrel's worn, but the passenger door and rear door are pretty tricky.

If you pop the door lock out you will find a code written on the side, if you tell a good key cutter they cn cut you a new one.

Cost me $20-25 when i lost the keys to the starion

Oh the code is normally on the drivers side door too.
