Hi guys, I'm having drams with the gear box so I'm in the middle of dropping it out. But it wont come out. The top front hits the pressure plate and the back rests on the crossmember. No matter how far I slide it back it wont clear at the front. I can see if I cut a small v in the crossmember I'll pick up some room but I dont think it will be enough....... any tips?
Just had a thought that maybe the engine leaning back on its mounts (unsupported). I might go try to jack the back up a bit and see if that helps. At the moment I'm banging a square peg in a round hole..

hey john , cutting the small v should work so that the bracing bit on the extension housing will go in it , it will come out if you remove the throwout lever arm and twist the box but it can be difficult . alternatively , if you move the box as far back as it will go and support the front you can undo the pressure plate and remove it to swing the box down.
Thanks guys, I notched the cross member mounting face but still no go so I cut a 3 mm sliver off the tront of the mounting face. After this with a bit of scraping I got it out. The problem turned out to be the throwout fork. The little pin that holds the throwout bearing in place had sheared off and the bearingwas crashing around in there. Its made a bit of a mess o f the old pressure plate fingers and the bearing was shot. I was able to press what was left of the pin out far enough to hold the new bearing. Fingers crossed it works.
Once again thanks for the qiuck replies.
