GQ runing really ruff on start up (mising 4 cylinders)

Post by frby69 »

hi i have a 92 gq 4.2ltr petrol carb with eletric fuel pump ( new works good) run only on 2 cylinders first start up in morning (cold) has been getting worse over last 4 or so weeks as it warms up (few mins) it slowly works it's way threw cylinders untill fireing on all cyl's then it smooth running till next morning any ideas would be great things i have done so far

1 has good spark at coil lead
2 new points and condencer 2 months ago
3 new plugs 2 months ago
4 spark at end of plug lead (haven't pulled plug yet as only stop running tonight (night off work yeepee)

5 not sure on fuel into cylinder but i have to hold throtle wide open till it fires on three or four cylinders other wise it dies

just seems wierd to me that as it warms up it runs better
thanks in advance

Too much choke, is there black smoke? Possibly leaking head gasket, water seeps into bores when car is sitting overnight and wets the plugs on initial start. You can do a number of checks for this.

Cheers

If you can borrow a pressure tester put it on and pump it up, let the car sit for an hour and see if it does it again, if it does that will be the issue.
