Hilux speedo wont work

The speedo on my hilux stopped working, every now and again its comes on for a short time. any on ideas what is wrong with it.

Has the drive cable come away at the back of the speedo in the dash (have you been playing in there ever?)

What about the transmission end of the cable?, there is a plastic drive gear. Remove and inspect it.

Is there a box or cable coming out of the back of the transfercase

not really sure ill have to look. its been working today with out any worries, so ill leave it and see if it stills fucks up.
