If you have the auto locked in 2nd low and are crawling a hard spot but then need to hit the loud pedal for some instate wheel spin do you find it kicks back to 1st and doesn`t allow the wheel speed that you want or does it stay in 2nd and spin away happy.
Was chatten to a auto shop yesterday and he said that even with a stage 2 shift kit in it it can still kick back to 1st if it really wants to, I was allways under the impresion that with a stage 2 shift kit it would stay in 2nd. Is this true? Is the only way to stop it kicking back a gear when you don`t want it to to make it a full manual shift?
I`m asking this because I am trying to decide if I want auto or man behind the V6. If I go the auto I want it so that the wife can drive it to so I don`t really want a full man auto.

a mate explaind what he knew about the stage 2 shift kit today to me.
he said its the same as a normal auto but the belts are stronger to take the abuse of slamming it back a gear or slamming from 'drive' to 1st.
stage 3 is full manual. like you said no good for the wife, unless theres a special on down at the shops.
it should stay in or change back to 2nd if it does kick back to first. because its governed by speed of output - and speed/force of input.
you wont be keeping that ratio tho changing from a 5 speed to an auto.
but i have no idea on whats the best stalls, etc

I`ve been told to double it with a auto is this correct? If so I`ll have 180 to 1. If money allows I`m also putting in twin T cases so then it will be mad But I only want twins so that I can have standard low range as well as the low I have now.383FJ45 wrote:you wont be keeping that ratio tho changing from a 5 speed to an auto.
