Help, head lights making revs go up....
Help, head lights making revs go up....
Hey guys, i am in a bit of a pickle, I got in my zook today to take it for her first drive after repairs ( clutch, starter, alternator c/o, half cgae fab) and i turned the head lights on and the revs pick up about 1250rpm above idle.. Just picking some brains before i start ripping and tearing again, i am thinking the control solenoid on the carby maybe shorting tino the head light harness...

"normal" idle is 950 isnt it? mines always run better at 1000rpm idle cos i dont have the idle up on my weber, and it seems at 1000rpm the idle doesnt drop, even when running highbeam, spotties, compressor and stereo... but when i set idle to 900ish rpm itll drop down around 800 with accessories on.
The worst thing about censorship is ███████.
Focus on that side of the carb on Fools pic. Run the engine and get someone to turn the headlights on. You'll notice one of the vacuum actuators moving and holding the butterfly shaft open. Simply track which actuator is moving and controlling the idle under electrical load (there will be a vacuum hose running from the actuator on the carb to and electronic solenoid with a green plug) and adjust the screw the presses against the throttle shaft so when the headlights are turned on the RPM is equal to that of when their off ~850-900RPM

From manual - 850rpm at NOT - Step 1 idle up 950 rpm, step 2 idle up 1050rpm (all + or - 50rpm).alien wrote:"normal" idle is 950 isnt it? mines always run better at 1000rpm idle cos i dont have the idle up on my weber, and it seems at 1000rpm the idle doesnt drop, even when running highbeam, spotties, compressor and stereo... but when i set idle to 900ish rpm itll drop down around 800 with accessories on.
