Just got myself a high lift jack, but am wondering where to store it..
Ive seen ppl store them on the rear wheel carrier somehow, along with a spade to I think , is this a extra that I can buy? Or are they self fabricated?
I dont have a roof rack yet either so cant carry it 'upstairs'
Any ideas would be great.
Thanks
PS Yea I know I could store it inside, but would prefer not to
what do yo udrive? on my 40 it's mounted on the step and held to the windscrean by a hilift holder thing that the Previous owner put on.
the rear wheel carrier things you can buy (try ARB/ other 4x4 shop) or fab. make sure you've got a strap holding the handle up if you do that, a mate of mine had his handle drop down so it stuck out, then it hit a tree. jack was fine, but it busted the mounts off his rear wheel carrier, and tore a junk outa the body on his GQ.
you want to keep it away from mud and were dust can`t get to it cause it stops the pins from moving and you don`t no it till you need it ,try and keep it in the truck.

and a 84 extra cab
If Rocks Had P^ssies Our Lives Would Be Perfect :D...
Mine is mounted under my tray on my hilux and it does tend to get dusty/muddy.
But its not generally too much of a problem as I carry a tin of CRC with me and just give it a spray down before use.
A dust proof bag would be a very good idea though.
Paul.
in my case i mounted the jack on the spare wheel for a few years and the pins wore into the sliding surface and it sticks now.
didn't have a problem with the door hinges or anything either.
before i bought the holder i slid the jak under the back seat but mine was an ST model and i dont think you can fit it in a DX.

how many people actually use their hi lifts. i think I've used mine a couple of times in the 6 years I've owned it. And then only because we were doing work on the car and it was out not because I actually needed the hi lifting. Been thinking of buying a cheap hydraulic lift welding a plate to the bottom and using it
