lets hope it's bigger than than the 3ltr. it's to small for a car that can pull 3200kgs plus load the back up. as for the shape, i was told it was going to be different but you may be right, they have only had it for a few years, but by 09 it will be 4 years old. nissan seem to be updating the look of there cars all the time latley and so have toyota.

THE FACTS:

Its going to be between a V2 and V10, or straight 4 to straight 12 possibly turbo or more, maybe blower, maybe both maybe none...
It may have 1-1000kw at the wheels, and 1-10000nM torque, then again, it maynot.

It may have suspension, or live axle, but highly doubtful.

Will come standard with 4 wheels, and 1 spare, possibly a space saver, then possibly not.

The engine will be made by someone and may have shit parts supply and little backing, or maybe lots of parts, and great backing

The only certainty is you never buy the first of any model car, until they have service pack 12 out, and the bugs are gone.

Thats no the current shape. I though current shape was GU which came out in 98. Since then there has been 4 or 5 cosmetic upgrades. But its still basically the same body as what came out in 98. So 10yrs now which about what they got of the GQ shape.

how can it be the same body since 98 when the panels are different,a GU guard is diferent to a GU11, you go & try to put the headlights from a2007 gu into a 98 gu.. I suppose your going to say there wasnt any difference between MQ & GQ either....& next you will be saying its only cosmetic changes between toyotas 80, 100, & 200 series

The Nissan Stealership dude was telling me all about the new one, so apparenly some people know. 3.6l V6 turbo diesel (renault's engine currently in some of their other vehicles). I thought about it for the increased power, but I'd never buy the first series of the new one anyway so it will be years before I'd look at it. If I want more power I'll put in a diesel/gas system.

You just answered your own question. Only the guards, trims and lights are different. Body shell and chassis is based on the 98 GU, has only been upgraded. Not a differnt model like the 80,100 series cruiser.

Yep thats how I see it. Where as 80, 100 and 200 are very different in chassi and body.
And there is a huge difference in MK/Q to GQ. But Front doors do fit supposedly.

think about it this way then, you can turn a VN commodore into half a VS commodore, all you need are the front guards. All they've really changed are basic cosmetics, its mostly skin deep

Yeah.. a commodore is just second rate falcon with a slightly different headlights...

A jeep is just a matchbox car, built larger and with more plastic and less metal, larger but not as well made.

And my house is really just a circus tent with smaller but noisier animals in it.

i know where your comin from bud, but with nissan and toyota they both have a reputation for not havin many bugs in there 4wd's, even if there are bugs they are usually small and can be fixed while you wait. the only thing i can think of is the nissan 3Ltr, they had some big problems with them, but if what some of the other guys are sayin is true that there puttin the 3.6Ltr reno in it then it's been tried and tested and is known to work well.

MQ-GQ
front doors, windscreen, bonnet, probably back doors, roof.

and an 88 GQ has pretty much the same gearbox diffs, suspension as a current GU - interchangeable, not that its a bad thing, sure as hell beats some of the current drivelines offered by other manufacturers.
There are no stupid questions, but there are a LOT of inquisitive idiots

The 3.0-liter V6 dCi Concept. The V6 dCi Concept is a preview of a coming new generation of 3.0-liter V6 diesel engines. The new 2,993cc block is derived from the 2.0 dCi engine, with which it shares 25% of its components. The engine develops 195 kW (261 hp) of power and maximum torque of 550 Nm (406 lb ft) at 1,750 rpm with targeted CO2 emissions of less than 200g/km.

Their 1.9 litre turbo diesel gives 96 kW and 250 Nm of torque.

Their 2.0-litre common rail gives you 127kW and torque of 360Nm.

The 3.0 Patrol: 118 kw and 354nm

By those numbers, you'd be better off with a 2.0 renault common rail turbo diesel than the current 3.0 nissan.

It's also not so amazing that their new 3.0 (still concept ATM) could give you such good numbers either.

which proves you never buy on whats on paper, you use your brain, nobody would expect 3 tons to be successfully punted round outback aust with a 2ltr donk.
