body lift on a 1983 lux
i no this has probably been talked about before but i was wondering if anyone has ever done a body lift on a 1983 lux, im going to be doing one soon (2" lift) so i can wack 33's under it and i am curious wether the gearstick, steering and break lines need to be modded to take the lift.
Thanks any info would be appreciated

My stepfather did this to his single cab lux and with the lift the brake lines should be extended, but he just took the clamp out of the line so it can slide (yes dodgy I know but it's a offroad toy only). He didn't have any trouble with the gear stick or the steering. The other thing to check is the radiator shroud as you may need to lower it. Otherwise it was a basic job better than a pootrol 2" lift

I put a 3.5" bodylift in my 83 a few years ago with no probs. Had to lengthen steering shaft and fuel filler, drop radiator and stretch brake lines. Cant remember if I had to cut the floor around the gear levers or not.

thanks mate mine not running the 2.2 diesel it was converted to the 2.4 and the guy did it himself so im hoping all the clips on the wires are all undone half of them were so the wires should just reach i hope. and as the for shroud thats no prob the metal lines worry me they are coiled tho so i should be able to pull them and stretch them.
thanks for the replies guys

on mine i am still running the normal setup. the shaft sits lower in the hole so the rubber boot on the fire wall dosn't fit. You might need to stuff around with shifter, dont kick it they brake. there is a steel plate on/under the shift boot (can't remember wich one), i cut the peice out between the two sticks and works fine.
what i wanna know is, (i have 93model).. i have no idea how you will need to extend your brake lines with a body lift? the engine is attached to the chassie not the cab i have done 2 inch cab on mine and never had to touch brakelines until i started pushing more flex...
also benno you will need to cut around the shifter as said the middle peice and also a lil more, not sure on ya shape, but i dare say it would be
also third edit lol, forget the shaft extension to ya dont needs it i never did and they are much of muchness, plus i couldnt see 150 in one of them, they are smaller than the palm of ya hand... there is enuf slip plus more in the couple of adjustments on them.
Cheers, Chris

Cab to chassis there coiled up steel lines so it strecthes out no drama the only way you'll stop water coming in through the hole in the firewall is to make up a custom cover piece of piss and just screw it or good quality glue to the fire wall no more water in your shoes after gassing it at a puddle. With the steering shaft loosen of the main slip spline before you do the lift tighten up when done
plenty of parts on the bench
thanks Dan, its dan isnt it lol.
yeh i thought u just loosen the clamp on the spline then lift then it will stretch the steel lines easy and then i will just remove boot cut tub and remount the cowling on the fan and it should be all go. i will make a nice rubber flap for around the steering last time i hit deep water it came in through the farken air vents, stuffed my cd player, someone has now learnt to shut the air vents and turn to recirculate when he goes swimming lol
thanks for all the help guys!!!

thanks guys, i think the cowling will hit so i will have to remount that or the whole radiator but i think it will be easier to remount the cowling. the worst part is going to be fixing the bull bar to suit lol pain in the A hole, and i think my side steps are attached to the tub so they will be ok.
i will let yas no how i go fitting it in 2 weeks time i hope.
