Unused wiring on 80 series

Got under the dash and noticed heaps of unused wiring plugs on the factory harness, what the hell is it all for?

There appears to be at least 6, 8, maybe 10 different size plugs some with as many as a dozen wires hooked up.

Different engine, gearbox combinations varrying spec levels i would guess.

they are there to remind you that you dont have the best model of that car :) hehehe

they are handy for fitting extra things as most have a power supply or ground supply which is handy to use instead of cutting into the loom.

Bought the car BECAUSE it didn't have all the extra gear.
What it doesn't have can't break.
Thought that there would be a different harness fitted because it isn't spec'd up.
Having power and grounds is fine but like I said there are heaps of wires there and they all look like 1mm stuff, not much good for any mods I would have thought.

You need to look at a sahara dash to see how many switches they have....climate control air, electric arial, rear aircond, yada yada

sunroof, extra guages, altimeter, etc etc...

i think the sahara can weigh another couple hundred kilos all pimped out, over the full base model.
hands and mums dont count!!!

Then when you look in a sahara dash there is still plugs that arent used eg the CDL :P

Seriously dude - if you are thinking about touching your loom, LEAVE IT THE HELL ALONE. If you are asking this question then you're not a sparky.

i cleaned a lot of the extra crap out of my loom while it was out and integrated a lot of the extra accessories i was running into it. While i didn't manage to fark it too bad, i managed to miss connecting one simple little wire that stopped virtually half of my loom from working.

It took getting killalux from this board ( a qualified sparky and electrics modifier) out to diagnose/fix it.
