Quick Leaf question

if i was to buy a 2 inch lift leaf spring set for my sierra/sj413 can i run the standard shocks??, what else would i exactly need? besides maybe new bushes and u bolts have tried searching the topic but havent come up with anything.... sorry havent been part of this forum for very long..

i would definately replace the bushes while you are at it.You should get away with re using your u bolts if you choose to do so and as for your shocks,i think you'll find that they are too short and dont even fit back on,maybe but there are cheap alternatives such as the vs wagon shocks and hilux shocks....have fun

If you do a 2 inch spring lift, you will also need to fit longer travel shocks, extended brake lines (they get close to not being long enough at full articulation) and fit extended bumpstops (around 2 inch) so that the shocks can not bottom out. Some shocks that work with the above bits are as follows:

Zuk Back Shocks: GABRIEL Part Number: 81147 - from Hiace / Hilux
Zuk Front Shocks: GABRIEL Part Number: 81340 - from VS Wagon rear

In relation to lifted springs, it would be a good idea to make sure you understand why you want/need them - they generally ride like CRAP, but can be improved. Have a look here: http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/phpBB2/ft ... 0-asc-.php

As everyone has said, NO you can no run the standard shocks. Yes this will bolt back on, but they are at pretty much the full extended position. Get some new shocks, and get the right shocks too. Just because they fit does not mean they are any good. Correct lengths and valving is improtant to retaining your ride qualtiy (yes i know its a zook we are talking about) and handling.

Have a good look through the bible, and search through the site.

Care to elaborate?

ie. What brand/model number shocks do you guys recommend for the 2" spring lift set-up in question?

first off thanks for your guys help finally i get a good answer to that question and also was looking at running maxitrac leaf springs has any body else used or use these and has any body had any problems with them i.e been too stiff or soft and can i run any brand shock for the hiace and vs shocks.. or would i be able to pick up an aftermarket option for around about the same price?? thanks in advance...
