gasket replacemeants - SWB Vitara G16B

Post by islandvitara »

think its about time i got the oil leaks sorted on my vitara, oil is leaking all over the timing cover down the bottom, leaking all around the oil sump and around the top of the rocker cover....

im assuming theres only the 2 gaskets - rocker cover and oil sump gasket??? please correct me if im wrong.

is it a difficult job to replace the sump gasket??? im confident in doing it myself if shown the right way to do it so can someone please post the steps in replacing these gaskets???

im pretty sure i have the tools to cover the job.

cheers islandvit

p.s did a search cldnt find what i needed
just beat a Marlin in a swimming race

Rocker cover is easy enough ... just remove cover, remove old gasket and rubber seal thingo's in cover, wipe clean, fit new gasket and rubbers, refit cover....

Sump gasket... Drain sump, remove pan, remove old gasket, wipe gasket face on pan clean, fit new gasket, refit pan, be careful not to overtighten and crush gasket. Refill with oil.

Timing cover leak will be a seal on the camshaft or the crankshaft.
