my stock jack is hopelessly inadequate and i was looking at a high-lift jack.
the body doesnt look like it would enjoy being jacked, and looking at the tongue of the high lift you wont get it under the chassis rail anywhere .
i have seen heaps of sierra's with the high-lift attached to the back/on the roof so:
- where on a sierra do you jack it from?
- do you need to have sliders to help jack from?
- any pics of recovery/tyre changes where the jack has been used?
if its all too hard, i will just get a bigger bottle jack

There's your answer.
There's nowhere on a stock sierra that you can lift with a hi-lift, unless you want high clearance sills (I'm acutally serious, it gets them well out of the way and make little spots the jack won't slip off.
You'll have to have sliders/ barwork anywhere you want to use it, and it's only safe to use one with the axle strapped to the chassis to lock out droop.
My rants about the uselessness and danger of hi lifts are well known. It's much easier to put a "back off" tyre cover on the back of sierra to add toughness, you don't have to carry a hi-lift to look tough.
Mine stays in the shed.

highlifts can be used for other things aswell, but i think i will just get a bottle jack and stow it away in the car someplace.

I carry a high lift (hidden under the tray to avoid steves tough insults lol) but as mentioned you really do need bar work. My front bar has jacking points and I can also use the sliders, tray and towbar.
Hilux bottle jacks go plenty high and work well on Sierras.
